What remains if one day your profession no longer works?

One in four people in Austria becomes unable to work in their profession at some point. The state pension rarely covers it. Occupational disability insurance closes that gap — on a level with the responsibility you carry.

Occupational disability does not change one life. It changes a family.

Occupational disability is not a dramatic event from the news. It arrives quietly: a slipped disc, a depression, a cancer diagnosis, a burnout that will not lift. In Austria the state disability pension often amounts to 40 to 50% of your last income — and only if you meet the strict conditions.

Anyone with a family, a loan account, a tenancy, a promise made to their children knows: 50% is not enough. Private occupational disability insurance pays a monthly benefit — agreed at the level you actually need. That is not caution. That is responsibility.

The stronger one is not the one who can do more, but the one who cares more.

Voices from the diaspora.

At 41 a slipped disc pushed me out of my profession. The Wenexus policy has been paying for two years. I was able to keep my word to my family.

The health questions frightened me — my German is not good enough for them. Wenexus went through them with me line by line. Accepted, with no exclusions.

Incapacity to work (under the ASVG) means you can no longer do any work at all — a strict legal definition. Occupational disability means you can no longer do your specific job, roughly a 50% reduction in capacity. A private disability policy is considerably easier to claim on.

On average 40–55% of your last gross income — provided you have 60 insured months and meet the strict conditions. With diaspora career histories that have gaps, the share is often lower.

A worked example: 35 years old, IT consultant, non-smoker, in good health. A benefit of 2,000 €/month until 67. Premium: 55–90 €/month depending on the insurer. We compare three plans for your specific situation.

With serious plans: yes, in full. Burnout, depression, anxiety disorder — today among the most common causes of claims, around 30% of all cases. Important: do not accept exclusion clauses in the contract.

With plans that waive abstract referral, the cover stays tied to your original profession. If you change voluntarily, the level of the benefit stays the same. In a claim, the last profession is what counts.

Yes, as far as it is relevant and available. You must declare pre-existing conditions truthfully. We help with correct translation and classification — and, in case of doubt, place you with an insurer whose acceptance criteria are more open.

You took on the responsibility. Now we take it seriously.
