Since 2022, Austria allowed cars on Ukrainian plates to be used without re-registration, NoVA or inspection. On 13 May 2026 the government officially decided to bring these cars back under the general rules. It affects everyone living here permanently.

General rule §79 KFG: one year to register from the moment of import. No special exemptions and no double interpretations.
